50 years isn’t very old, especially when it comes to dinnerware. Much of this will depend on the pattern and maker, but as a rule if it’s likely to sell at $500 retail, they aren’t likely to give you more than $100- $150. But, in this economy, you’ll be lucky to get that. Many antique stores are refraining from adding stock, especially if it’s something they already have in quantity, and they nearly always have a great deal of dinnerware.

If you can give me the pattern and maker, I may be able to provide a better answer as I have been collecting vintage and antique dinnerware for nearly 30 years.

I probably don’t understand what you’re asking, but if they are worth $500, then you should get $500.
